Birth Doula Services
I don't have a birth agenda for you. My job is to help you understand your options, prepare for the experience you want, and support you in whatever path you choose.
Prenatal work is the foundation. It is important that we work together during pregnancy to build a relationship with each other. This is also where we build your understanding of the birth process and the options you may encounter along the way.
Together, we practice pain-coping techniques, birth positions, and breathwork. We build confidence, prepare your mind and body for labor, and deepen your sense of being supported as you cross this threshold.
I suggest four prenatal sessions following this rhythm, and one postpartum session. But these can absolutely be customized to your needs.
Relationship
Getting to know each other · 1 hour · Virtual or in person
We get to know each other, complete your intake forms, talk about your hopes and concerns, and begin planning the support that will be most useful to you.
Knowledge
Understanding your options · 2 hours · Virtual or in person
We build your birth preferences and explore common inductions, medical interventions during labor, medication options, and choices for the first hour after birth.
Body
The physiology of birth · 2 hours · In person preferred · Partner encouraged
We explore the physiology of birth, the stages and patterns of labor, and how the pelvis works during birth. We practice birth positions, breathwork, partner massage, counter-pressure techniques, and other tools for coping with labor.
Confidence
Preparing for labor · 2 hours · In person preferred · Birth giver only
This session is about deepening your readiness for labor. We use yoga, breathwork, meditation, and a custom guided visualization to help you connect with your body, your confidence, and your own sense of capability.
Birth
When your baby decides
Your birth happens when and how your baby decides. For clients planning a hospital or birth-center birth, I join you at home and help you labor until it’s time to transition to your planned birth location. We make that transition together, and I continue supporting you through labor and birth. For planned home births, I join you at home and provide continuous support throughout your labor and birth.
Integration
Postpartum debrief · 1 hour · Virtual or in person
After your birth, we meet again to tell the story of what happened, talk through the choices and events along the way, and make sure you have a clear understanding of your experience. We can work through questions or difficult emotions, celebrate what went beautifully, and connect you with additional resources or care if needed.
